Step 3: Exporting your car out of Japan

For a cars purchased at auction up to 1 Million Japanese Yen incur Japanese export fees of 120,000 Yen

The export fee added to the auction car cost makes up the Free on Board (FOB Price)

The FOB Price is the total cost loaded on to the ship as it sails from the Japanese port bound for the UK.

Below is a breakdown of what these export fees cover.

• Buyers Commission for travelling to the auction, Hand-On inspection, Bidding for the car.

• Japanese Auction Buyers Fee.

• Inland Transport from the Auction to the Bonded Yard at the Japanese Port.

• De-Registration of the vehicle in Japan.

• Application for an Export Certificate. (Required for UK registration)

• Booking of Shipping Space to the UK port of your choice.

• You Tube Video Demo. When Possible with a copy of the day’s newspaper as proof of date.

• Recycle Fees (Japanese Tax)

• Japanese Port Handling Charges.

• Postage of Vehicle Document direct to you by international world courier.

Individual Marine Insurance

We recommend customer take out Individual Marine Insurance to cover the vehicle while in transit to the UK.

The You-Tube Video is partly intended to help confirm the vehicle condition before shipment.

For UK Legal reasons Jap Auto Agent Ltd cannot recommend any particular Marine Insurance Companies.

The Buyer’s Commission

Pays for an early morning start, Fuel, and Japanese Road Toll Charges for travelling to the auctions.

Providing a Hands On Inspection of vehicle, 50 Large High Resolution Photos taken in the auction before the sale plus a direct phone call to you our customer and days later in the export process the Production of the You Tube Video Demo

Inland Vehicle Transport from the place of purchased to the bonded yard in the Japanese Port

Administration of the FOB Invoicing.

De-Registration of the vehicle in Japan.

Application for a Japanese Vehicle Export Certificate.

Booking shipping space on the next available sailing to a port of your choice.

You Tube Video Demo with proof of the day and date produced in the bonded yard.

Final inspection of the vehicle in the boned yard before shipping.

Japanese Port handling for loading the vehicle on to the ship at the port and bonded yard storage charges.

Japanese Export Recycle Tax.

Surrender of the Bill of Laden.

Postage of documents direct to you by International Courier.

Should you wish to target a higher value vehicle, the Japanese export fees will rise as fallow:

1. Vehicles Purchased Between ¥1.000,000 and ¥1.500,000 Japanese Yen Auction Car Cost: EXPORT FEE: ¥150,000

2. Vehicles Purchased Between ¥1.500,000 and ¥2.000,000 Japanese Yen Auction Car Cost: EXPORT FEE: ¥200,000

3. Vehicles Purchased Between ¥2.000,000 and ¥2.500,000 Japanese Yen Auction Car Cost: EXPORT FEE: ¥250,000

UK Ports of Destination

Your vehicle will now be booked on the first available Ro Ro ship bound for the UK port of your choice.
Car Carrier Ships sail from the Japanese ports of – Yokohama – Nagoya – Kobe.
UK Ports of Destination are – Newcastle - Southampton
Shipping is charged by the Sq. Cubic Meter and calculated on the size of the vehicle.

Shipping charges are normally paid on arrival at the UK port direct to the customs clearance agent
Sailings take around six and a half weeks however please be aware that delays can occur.
Also allow extra time should your vehicle have missed the previous sailing.
